I love winter in Canberra.  Sunny clear days, blue blue skies.  And foggy mornings.  Lots of foggy mornings.

Fog means quiet, still mornings.  It means calm.  It means something slightly ethereal or even eerie.

On this morning, I ventured up Mt Ainslie, one of the two peaks in Canberra, to see if the weather app did it's job in predicting patchy fog.

From 5.30am I watched the fog roll into and over the city, covering the lake, the landmarks and the roads until by about 9.30, the centre of the city was completely covered.

In this image, the fog was beginning to roll in over Lake Burley Griffin and down the mountains over the city as it was still sleeping.   The lights were still on because it was before the dawn shining through the enclosing fog.
